Growing Lessons

Hope your day is shaping up to be a rather nice one!  It’s hotter than usual here in the mid part of the country, as we are going on our 11th day of over 100 degree temps.  For some of you from the south, this is nothing new, for here it is…well…different.  And we have had no rain, at least where I am, for weeks.  Again, unusual.  BUT, the interesting thing is that as I was watering my plants this morning, I noticed something encouraging…New growth on all of my pepper plants!  Also, my tomato plants that I planted REALLY late are actually taking hold and growing nicely.  If I can keep them alive in this heat, they will grow and produce in the fall…so, again, nice!  My garden area does not get the proper sun, but I am thinking since the sun is so much hotter, that might not be such a bad thing!

Gardening, even in small ways, is such a learning opportunity!  And, from today, the lesson for my journey is this, even in the face of adversity, we can grow.  Even in the face of what appears to be a lull in our lives, we can still move forward.  The only thing holding us back is ourselves.  Truly, if the plants, in the face of such drought conditions, can continue to grow and even add new growth, then we, as brothers and sisters to the plants, can do this too!  (All life is all related, you know!)

It’s easy for me to imagine that the plants don’t over think things like we do.  It’s easy for me to see that, while things are rough for them now, they just say, “Yep it’s hot, but that won’t stop me from doing what I was put on this earth to do…grow!”  And we can learn from that!  Did we wake up this morning?  Yep!  SO, that gives us another day to work towards our goal…Yesterday is in the past.  Keep the lesson from yesterday’s decisions and live in the now, knowing you can change your way of thinking, the things you are doing and the influence with which you let others influence your life.  Your decisions can start over every single day, and if need be, find a different path that offers you different results, every day…

Don’t be a slave to old thoughts, past actions or past decisions.  Challenges are not obstacles unless you allow them to be… Wake up in the morning with a renewed sense of awareness…The knowledge that you CAN change your mind, do things differently and interact with life on this planet in different ways.  You are the key to YOUR future…If you have given up that power over you to someone else, well, take it back!  You truly are the one you’ve been waiting for and your world will open up for you when you embrace yourself.  So, what are you waiting for!?!

Blessings for your day, and weekend, next week, and always!  Much love and light to you and your family…May the blessings of Our Creator rain down on you until you have had your fill, and may it all happen for you again on every tomorrow!

Peace be with you

Beauty is in the…

We’ve all heard the saying, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”  Literally, it means whatever one person sees as beautiful IS beautiful.  And we know this to be true, there are so many different attributes people see as beautiful, and they aren’t all the same!  Some people like blonde hair, others like red, brown and still others prefer brunette…straight, wavy, curly, long medium, short.  Some people prefer purple, others think green is the color, others like orange best.  Some people like muscular, other’s don’t.  People tend to a have vastly different criteria for what they believe is beautiful.  Another interesting saying is “Beauty is only skin deep.”   This one tends to refer to character rather than actual physical beauty.  And there are just as many personality trait favorites as physical ones.

We tend to think of beauty as something that is pretty, lovely, attractive and pleasing to the eye.  BUT, there’s more than just sight that needs to be pleased!  Let’s take a look at the actual definition of the word “beauty.”  Merriam Webster defines “beauty” as, “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.”  Add a definition for the word “beautiful,” “generally pleasing,” and you can get a sense that both words can also mean beauty with regards to something not necessarily seen, like beauty that strikes our mind, heart, soul, or maybe even our spirit.  I think we can all agree that what is generally pleasing to the eye is not always pleasing to these other aspects of our selves, and that’s worth noting!

Take for instance a beautiful plant or flower.  We expect it to be very wonderfully fragrant, but that’s not always so.  What surprises may lurk within the walls of a beautiful house, which could be hiding a money pit of repairs.  A nice looking car could cost us a fortune in repairs, as well.  Or, what about a beautiful person with an angry disposition?  All of these may be pleasing to the eye, but none would fulfill other parts of our being.  BUT, I think we could all agree that a sweet smelling flower, a nice sturdy home, a solidly built car or someone with a wonderful personality, regardless of outward appearance, can touch more than just our eyes, protecting us from disaster.  Also, looking past the aesthetically pleasing could reach our very soul and spirit…the true essence of who we are.  What can be more fulfilling than that?

We live in an age of where almost nothing physical is out of reach.  Car, home, things, person, but we are always searching, never satisfied.  Why?

We are complex beings and to satisfy us, we need more than beauty that we can see.  We need beauty that touches our mind, heart, soul…our spirit!  Wouldn’t the world be a much better place if we all started looking with not just our eyes, but our entire being?  Oh, what we would be able to sense…to feel on a cellular level!  Looking with just our eyes can be fun, but it can also be deceiving.  Looking with our entire being, now there’s how we will find true beauty!

Divine Comfort

Today, the Divine in me will reach out to the Divine in you…we will comfort, support and care for one another, realizing we are not so different…We have similar wants and desires…and mine is that the Peace of the Ages will fill us to overflowing as the Creator of all there is blesses each one of us today, and always…this is an exceptional journey and we are all on different paths, perhaps even the same journey, looking for a unique perspective.  Working together while respecting the desires of another is what binds our lives and helps us rejoice at our blessings and hold each other high during times of sorrows.

Never give in to the doubt and fear.  Realization and change comes from deep within our very souls…We truly are the ones we’ve been waiting for…and so we press on until the whole world knows peace, joy and love!

My “Lord’s Prayer”

In Spirit & love,
We come before you today,
Precious Mother/Father Creator;

Thank You for this glorious day,
Thank You for the people I will encounter and
for those whose lives will touch mine.

Thank you for the blessings in my life today,
My Family,
My Friends (who are also part of my family),
The food that will nourish body, mind and soul,
The courage  to face my challenges,
The Faith to know you are always with me to surround me,
My Strength in the face of adversity.

from which others can draw,
And let my soul reach out and caress others in need.

Let Your Light and Love rain down on all who desire you care,
Today, and forevermore…

Life, Mended

Out of the depths, wandering free,
Soul’s first adventure on Its own.
Death and destruction, mayhem and madness.
“Who would want this?” ” What have I chosen?”

Don’t want to turn back, the light, it still shines.
With some, comes some more.  This one I can win!
Lessons are learned, as hard as they are.
Other choices are made, the difference is clear.

Darkness moves from sight, into the corners.
Slinking away and hiding with guilt.
As Soul takes charge, clearing the mess
left by a life that was lived by default.

Life gives up the suffering, learning to love,
not only Itself, but others alike.
Becoming more kind, gentle and clear,
The prize is at hand, Life sees past Its fears.

More sure of Its host, Soul rejoins the Body.
Loving thoughts They do think, together as One.
Helping the others, family and friends,
mending the fences and broken bridges.

New is the Creature, tranquil and sure
Life springing forth, no longer in doubt.
Pristine and perfect, glistening bright.
Giving forth much, and so mends the Life.

Love the “Doing”

The first words of a truly fantastic sentence, “I love the thought…” catch us all anticipating what it is we will “love.”  It’s magical!  We can ponder all kinds of lovely things…for example, we can love the thought of…

spending time with my children.
making a special dinner for friends.
staying in for dinner with my honey.
watching the stars.
relaxing in a hot bath.
sleeping late.

Or maybe something a little different…

planting a garden in spring.
a swim in the hottest part of Summer.
making snow angels in the yard.
bicycling, walking, running or dancing…something active…
taking pictures of those trees as they turn magnificent colors in the Fall.

Or maybe something extreme…

moving to a warmer/cooler climate.
running a marathon.
bicycling cross-country.
hiking the Grand Canyon.
skydiving.
backpacking through Europe.
taking a trip to Fiji…

I think you get the idea.  There are literally thousands of things you could “love the thought of,” but what about actually DOING them?  Yes, these seem like simple things, but how many times do we make excuses for not taking action on our simple, lovely thoughts?  Truth be told, when we make excuses, we are wasting our lives…there is SO much we could do…but to do it, we actually have to get out there and just DO it…(Reminds me of the old Nike slogan!).

What are we seeking to do when we “love the thought” of something?  Usually, we feel bogged down, in a rut, overworked, under-appreciated…drained…depressed.  I heard a wonderful teaching by Trevor Isley that pointed out when we are depressed, we are “low in spirit.”  So, again, what are we seeking when we “love the thought” of something?  To feed our spirit!  AND, if you can find something “fun,” you can rejuvenate!

Most of the things that would feed our spirit, thereby supporting our soul, don’t cost much, if anything…And, the things that you want to do that do cost money, well…start saving for it…Plan ahead for the big things, but learn to be spontaneous for the little things!

At the very least, don’t waste any more of your life just loving the thought of something…Make your journey spectacular!  Live your life!  Make time to love DOING the things that make you truly happy!

All Along…

Standing in the shadow of the Immortal,
my mortal body, broken and bruised,
from expressing myself, over and over,
trying to find forever.

My eyes do not see what is in plain sight,
as my mind and body struggle forward.
Limping along at a tedious pace,
Not realizing help is right before me.

Emotions battered and torn,
attempting to convey love,
trying to locate peace,
striving for true freedom…

At once, I see beyond the shadow
and I realize, this…Immortal…is familiar.
It is clear, now, the shadow is cast by me…
A place I’ve created to hide from who I really am!

As my spirit reaches forth,
grasping for the Omnipotent,
My heart leaps as it envisions
the end of suffering and sorrow.

Finally, love, peace, freedom…they are mine,
as my soul intermingles with the Soul of all…
And I realize…we have been One all along…

Magnificent, Instead!

What cares do I have, that eat up my days,
drive me insane with worry and pain.
How did I get them, from where did they come?
I search deep down, to the pit of my soul,
and find their not there, so is my search done?

Then a very small voice, so still and alive,
beckons me listen, so I’m not deprived.
“Your worry’s, your problems” it says with such force,
“Are troubling for sure, but derive from mankind…
I would not wish them for you, not ever, of course.”

“You are My Dear Child, and only the best,
is what you deserve, yet time you do waste,
searching for things which hold no meaning for you,
wondering blindly, stumbling round in the dark.
Why do you do that?  Better get on the move!”

“You have lots to accomplish, things to get done.
Things to experience, get out, have some fun!
You’re truly Divine, accept it, move ahead!
Shed the thick coat of troubles you’ve wrapped round yourself.
Embrace who you are, be magnificent, instead!”

Expression Unfolding…

Moving toward the unknown,
away from the comfortable,
Adrenaline rushes, emotions scatter.

Fear of the unfamiliar,
heightens as we progress,
but we’re not turning back.

Our adventure begins,
moving slowly, at first,
as our elation wells.

There’s only one way to continue,
Swallow pride, forget the past,
catch our breath and press on.

Forage our own way, something we can respect.
Nothing desolate or dark, desperate or lonely.
More souls than you know are seeking the same.

Tranquility ushers forth out of the depths of the chaotic,
Only now do we comprehend our journey’s purpose,
as the truth penetrates deep into our core.

We awaken, one day, to the truth of our purpose.
A notion more powerful than yet we’ve envisioned
Only then do we become what we’ve been created to be…
An emaculate expression of the passion of Our Beloved…

Unwritten…

Someone said start over
any time, anywhere
and I’ve taken it to heart,
my own cross to bear,
But the past keeps bleeding
over into the future.
Now if I could stop that,
Might get where I want to.

Until one day I realize,
as I start once again,
I am stronger than this,
and my soul starts to mend.
The clearing I see,
not too far ahead,
is beautifully bright,
not filled with dread!

The fear that I hold
in the palm of my hand
is unrealized,
drifting away like the sand
on a beach with the water,
chasing forward and back
I find that courage
isn’t something I lack.

My future, I find
is steady and sure,
if I keep my head clear
and keep my thoughts pure.
So I can move forward
knowing I can still win
my future’s unknown,
it’s truly unwritten!
